Flash mob is interesting. I tend to think of the waking population as a wave, and once large enough will wipe what ails us out. A cleansing. Thanks for the comment.
I spent 15 years translating the Old and New testament, did not do it all, the Aramaic books of the Old testament i did not translate. I used the oldest copies of original manuscripts that I could find, want to get as close as I could to the originals. One of the things that struck me was there was a lot of dogma being taught in the "church" that was not supported by scripture, not in the least. One of those was about sex, the church teaches that only sex between a man and a woman if they are married. How ever there is a whole chapter in Leviticus about sex, and if the dogma was correct, then there only needed to be a single line, sex between a married man and woman. PERIOD. There is not that single line, or any line like that at all that I could find.
the dogma about abortions, could not find anything at all, the closest that I could find was a law about a pregnant woman that gets injured by another person. If the baby dies or is injured the woman can decide, yes the woman can decide, what the punishment of the offending party shall be, up to an eye for and eye. It is the woman's choice, not her husbands or person that impregnated her, her choice. From there you can go where you want to, but do not add to the laws handed down and claim God says this when there is no record of it.
Could go on about other issues of dogma, but will not.
Interesting, David. I'm not surprised the church's dogma veered from the scripture. Would love to see a post about this topics - probably could be many posts. Thank you.
these are areas of great controversy and I feel misunderstanding. many of the laws/sins in the old testament dealt with some common sense or looking toward the future. One law dealt with making cloth with mixed fibers. Common sense things, like if you mix wool and cotton and then wash it, you are going to have a problem. One law said no tattoos, common sense, once you have done it , it cannot be undone. Also during WW II the wife of one of the concentration camp's commander was having people with tattoos killed and then skinned and then making things from the cured skin, like lamp shades and selling it.
Michael, I did not make a copy of what I translated, I really should have. I do want to say that I am personally against abortion in most cases. But believe that it is a woman's right and that she has to live with her decision. I feel that for the most part it is making a bad decision to correct another bad decision. The extremes that laws were taking the abortion to was incomprehensible. Saw some law drafts that appeared to take it up to the point of birth.
I found the old testament in the old Hebrew to be extremely poetic and beautifully written. There were some places that the translations were so far off of the old Hebrew that it said something entirely different. One was about Tubal-cain, working from memory here, but said that he worked with silver and gold, while the old Hebrew said the tubal cain which translates as descendants of Cain worshiped baal. It is not some dude's name but a type of people. How that one got so twisted I do not know. Not that it makes much difference, but a really bad translation that seems to be persistent. I may be missing something, and that is a possibility. I do not like dealing in absolutes, it freezes the mind and I think makes finding the truth much harder. My prayer is always to seek the truth and to know the truth and to be God's true servant.
I do love reading Kathleen's posts, she always leaves room for error and discussion. that makes her posts thought provoking. Her logic is great.
So sorry to hear that, David, it was truly a piece of scholarship that I would have enjoyed reading. I’m not well-versed in the Bible, but it has been my impression that the authors—whoever they were— have seemed to be somewhat unreliable in what they passed down, and you got as close to the source as you could.
I also wanted to tell you again that by using your framing of the Cosmic Consciousness, I have been able to tap into what I can feel as a real connection to that consciousness. It is difficult to express in words, but there you have it.
I am in agreement with you that it was the extremes that the laws were taking that were completely incomprehensible and which led to the Supreme Court decision.
Yes! Kathleen is a wonderful philosopher indeed…true to the open spirit of thought and inquiry. It has been a delight to correspond with her and you in this forum.
Michael, that connection is wonderful to hear. Yes, words are difficult to use when expressing the connection. I liken it to a person that lands in the Sahara desert. and finds a person there that does not need water and has never seen it. But person A needs water and tries to explain to the desert person about water. Well it is like sand in that it takes the shape of what ever container it is in, it pours like sand, but is transparent and cool. Does person B know what water is from this, hard to imagine until you experience.
great insights, things I had not realized from where I sit at the edge of the world. It is like a pendulum that has swung to its apex and now must return. will post more later, dinner time and espadon to cook.
Your insight is exactly right.
We were lazy and we wanted someone else to deal with the crazies.
Then they went way too far and we were shocked that no one was stepping up to deal with them.
So we had to dig deep and find our courage.
We're kind of like a flash mob now. We're not synchronized yet but we're in tune.

Hi David…have you published your translations of the Old and New Testaments? Your findings are fascinating. Would love to hear / read more. Cheers.

Kathleen! Your insights and rational optimism are completely fortifying. Thank you so much for this post.
Thank you so much, Michael! I'm so glad you find it such.😊 What a nice compliment.
