I took a look at the link you sent and was surprised by all that I read and saw there about the giants. Once upon a time, back when my family name was Von Hoover, our family had an estate in Austria and my ancestors were the commander of the royal guard. This was always given to the tallest person in the realm, at least according to what my father told me. He told me that there had been one ancestor, commander of the guard that was 8 foot 9 inches tall. As things happen, my grandfather, the heir to the position did not come in tall enough. So the family lost the position and the Catholic Church took the estate. My grandfather was upset, emigrated to the USA, decided to become a Protestant and dropped the Von part of the family name. As things happened back in those days, Ellis Island recorded his last name as Huber and not Hoover, and their you have it. My father was 6 foot 8, and at 6 foot 1, I am the smallest of my 5 brothers. I have never wanted to tell of the ancestor that was 8 foot 9, thinking that it was just too big to be believed. It makes me wonder?? Thanks again for the post and opening my eyes to other possibilities.
beautiful and full of funny ironic comments, I had my laughs for the day. As usual a very well written post. So in honor of all that you do, I am awarding you with the MOTO certification, Master Of The Obvious, a rare honor these days.
Now I guess that I am going to have to look for the Truman Show and watch it.
Hi Kathleen, I noticed a good comment of yours on another stack and am pleased to read your material. I view current events as the creative life force attempting to wake us up to realization of shortcomings inherent in adopting false assumptions.
'If the facade of the world is falling, what of our identities attached to it? They’ll have to fall too.'
We will need a new way to model reality for folk to give up current expressions of identity. For a long time we have used a split model where it is asserted that the spiritual and the material are said to be fundamentally different. What if we were to collectively decide that the spiritual and the material are the same thing? Thanks for your efforts.
That's an interesting observation/view and oh, boy, looks like we got a lot to wake up to!
Agree we'll need something new, and I'm for aligning the material/physical with spiritual, emotional and mental. We're in for such an interesting time.
Fantastic. I love the onion analogy and The Truman Show paralleling a growing awareness of that outer layer of reality while dipping into various deeper layers as well. That movie is still an appealing encouraging piece. Great work KD!
Thank you for your thoughts and words! Ah, silver linings like unforeseen, unconsidered tells…brought this quote to mind:
“The techniques of Aikido change constantly; every encounter is unique, and the appropriate response should emerge naturally. Today's techniques will be different tomorrow. Do not get caught up with the form and appearance of a challenge. Aikido has no form - it is the study of the spirit.” - Morihei Ueshiba
There are many, many other places over the world in which 'giants' were discovered. Doesn't take much research to find. I certainly don't look to wikipedia for accurate information. They've become gate-keepers.
I agree on Wikipedia politicized articles, but this is a different archeology-centered specialized wiki, and there are a lot of science-based factual references in the article. Other skeletons of "ancient giants" found around the world also have been proven to be either fakes or animal bones mistaken for human remains. There is no mystery here, just do a bit more research.
To me, such reckless jumping at the deep end could undermine the overall credibility of this otherwise promising substack...
We'll have to agree to disagree on that. As we've seen in the last two years, 'science-based factual references' doesn't necessarily mean anything - as it's been used to cover up big lies. "Trust the science" turned out to mean paid-science necessary to to push a dangerous agenda. The fact that these discoveries were covered at the time by reputable sources - like the NYTimes - only lends credence to the whitewash that came later. What you see as a reckless jumping at the deep end, might hint at a worldview that's being threatened. I relate to that - as I went through much of that myself. Slowly what I thought was 'true' and fundamental to the world I knew, came under challenge. Reorienting is not easy.
I'm not hear to convince you or anyone else of anything. I'm just sharing my perspective.
Our pastor (James River Church) did a series on Angels and Demons and I learned more than I ever imagined I would learn, especially considering the number of years I've been a Christian.
My daughter and I have a new perspective on giants and Greek and Roman gods. We've decided they were demonic beings that were alive within a recent enough period of time to still be memorialized and believed in. It was fictionalized to make sense to a human, but there were so many supernatural happenings (look at the size of the King of Og's bed) that it was one of the times the natural and supernatural were linked.

Thank you! That's a beautiful quote. I'll have to remember that. I appreciate the comment.
They do use astrology. Look at how many military actions are initiated on 3/19 or 3/20--sun moves into Aries, ruled by Mars, God of War.
