I used to drive a bus full of drunk people to and from the bar to the place where they played league kickball. Because the route was so repetitive, I’d often drive on auto pilot. And on more than one occasion, I’d experience what I started calling a “glitch in my matrix” where I would lose all sense of where I was, where I was going, or how I was behind the wheel of such an enormous vehicle full of so many belligerent people. And in those terrifying few seconds, it was like I was inside of a painting or a photograph.

There’s so much about our perceived reality that we could be exploring. And yet, here we are, spending all this time trying to expose a reality we can all agree on in the first place.

You got the right idea: constantly zoom in and out, pay attention to the macro and the micro, and let both the mundane and mysterious take up space and attention. Thank you for another great post.

Well, Well, make the most of the moment for sure. Things are definitely afoot that will come as a surprise, especially to those absolutists. Resist and again make the most of the day. Nice commentary, I think true and insightful. Acknowledge the creator and all of the wonders we have to see and explore. Truly a wondrous creation. Some thing is set out to destroy it, but will not be successful. Those that think they are in power, are not and are truly deluded, you are not.

“so much of what we’re facing right now, is the loss of what we thought we knew. We have our bearings based on what we think we do know so when those are being shredded, well… what is there to hold on to?”

Wow…that feels so profound to me, especially the “what is there to hold on to” part. That describes much of what I’ve been feeling, but didn’t have the insight to describe it in that way.

Wonderful post!

It is great to have found a like minded group who share this alternate reality that may or may not be real. Maybe. Your writing is fantastic and you found the space in my head. When I write, it is more personal, but you have managed to write all encompassing thoughts and capture them. Well done and thank you!

Considering what is happening, and what may happen, being distracted by the little things now and then is necessary. And that's now.

Playing with my little dog, or working i the garden, it's a nice respite from the knowledge and understanding about what a certain injection is doing, and what it portends for the near future.

Just before the great movie critic Roger Ebert died, his wife reported that he seemed to be seeing through this world and perhaps into the next. He repeated to her several times these words.. "You know, this is all an elaborate hoax". Ancient eastern traditions know about the concept of Maya or illusion or dream state of the physical world. The matrix idea is a rejiggering of that for our computer age. One day perhaps we will know or experience what reality is.

Reminds me of Scott Adams (Dilbert). He believes we are in a simulation.

Love the picture of the carpet. I took the very same photo from the carpet in my mom's cardiologist 's office and use it as the wallpaper on my android phone.

Great minds think alike.

From Castaneda's "A Separate Reality":

"What shields? What are you talking about?"

"I said that a warrior selects the items that make his world. He selects deliberately, for every item he chooses is a shield that protects him from the onslaughts of the forces he is striving to use. "

"An average man who is equally surrounded by those inexplicable forces is oblivious to them because he has other kinds of special shields to protect himself."

"What are those shields?" I insisted.

"What people do," he repeated.

"What do they do?"

"Well, look around. People are busy doing that which people do. Those are their shields. Whenever a sorcerer has an encounter with any of those inexplicable and unbending forces we have talked about, his gap opens, making him more susceptible to his death than he ordinarily is; I've told you that we die through that gap, therefore if it is open one should have his will ready to fill it; that is, if one is a warrior. If one is not a warrior, like yourself, then one has no other recourse but to use the activities of daily life to take one's mind away from the fright of the encounter and thus to allow one's gap to close. At this time in your life, however, you can no longer use those shields as effectively as an average man. You know too much about those forces and now you are finally at the brink of feeling and acting as a warrior. Your old shields are no longer safe."

"What am I supposed to do?"

"Act like a warrior and select the items of your world. You cannot surround yourself with things helter-skelter any longer. I tell you this in a most serious vein. Now for the first time you are not safe in your old way of life."

"For that purpose you must have a selected number of things that give you great peace and pleasure, things which you can deliberately use to take your thoughts from your fright and close your gap and make you solid."

"What kind of things?"

"Years ago I told you that in his day-to-day life a warrior chooses to follow the path with heart. It is the consistent choice of the path with heart which makes a warrior different from the average man. He knows that a path has heart when he is one with it, when he experiences a great peace and pleasure traversing its length. The things a warrior selects to make his shields are the items of a path with heart."

From Castaneda's "The Teachings of Don Juan":

"This question is one that only a very old man asks. My benefactor told me about it once when I was young, and my blood was too vigorous for me to understand it. Now I do understand it. I will tell you what it is: Does this path have a heart? All paths are the same: they lead nowhere. They are paths going through the bush, or into the bush. In my own life I could say I have traversed long, long paths, but I am not anywhere. My benefactor's question has meaning now. Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn't, it is of no use. Both paths lead nowhere; but one has a heart, the other doesn't. One makes for a joyful journey; as long as you follow it, you are one with it. The other will make you curse your life. One makes you strong; the other weakens you."

By any chance were you near Brookhaven or Montauk on Long Island? Things going on in those place might have disrupted the "carrier signal" as it's called in The Matrix film. Just a thought. But experiences like the one you described can happen spontaneously or due to astronomical conditions and for women, are more likely to happen at a certain time of their cycle.
